Restore SharePoint Document Library

SharePoint site owners can restore a Document Library to a point in the past. Doing so reverts the whole library to how it was at that point in time, undoing all changes between then and now.

The actions taken by the Restore tool are permanent.

If you simply deleted files or a folder that you wish to retrieve, you may visit the Recycle Bin up to 93 days after deletion. Learn more:

The restore tool is sequential. If you wish to undo an action, all actions between the present and the action must be undone.

This restore will not just bring back deleted/moved files but will also undo changes made to files.

  1. Visit s.uconn.edu/sharepoint and sign in with your email address and NetID password.

  2. Click on your SharePoint site.

  3. Click on the Document Library you wish to restore.

  6. When you choose a date, the site will list all of the changes that have happened between that date and now.

  7. Click on the radio button that aligns with the final change you wish to undo.

  8. Click Restore at the top of the page.

While your Document Library is restoring, it will place itself in a Read-Only state marked by a pencil icon with a diagonal line through it.
