Check Storage Available in a SharePoint Site

UConn faculty, staff, and students have 25TB of storage on their UConn SharePoint sites. You can check your storage usage through the SharePoint Website.

Every site has 25TB of available storage. But how much space is this really?

1TB (terabyte) is 1,000GB (gigabytes)* and 1GB is 1,000MB (megabytes)*.

For reference: a standard 4-page Word document, without any pictures, is less than .05MB, and you have 25,000,000MB available.

*Depending on the computer system, the values above are expressed as either 1,000 or 1,024. This does not affect your usage of SharePoint or your computer.

Checking overall storage use

Following this section will tell you how much of your SharePoint quota (25TB) you are using. This will not tell you how much is on your computer vs. online-only.

  1. Navigate to s.uconn.edu/sharepoint and sign in with your UConn email address and NetID password.

  2. Click on your SharePoint site.

  3. Click on the settings gear in the top-right corner and then click on Site information.

  4. Click on View all site settings.

  5. In the “Site Collection Administration” section, click on Storage Metrics.
