Recover Deleted Folders/Files from OneDrive
Files and Folders that are deleted in OneDrive are sent to the recycle bin. Items in the recycle bin can be restored up to 93 days after deletion. The Recycling Bin is only accessible through the website.
If a file is manually deleted from the Recycling Bin, it will be sent to a semi-hidden, second-stage recycling bin. Continue below to learn more.
Step 1: Check the Recycle bin
Navigate to s.uconn.edu/onedrive and sign in with your UConn email and password.
Click on Recycle bin.
Select the folders/files you would like to restore. Click Restore.
If you are restoring a folder, you will not be able to see its contents until you restore it.
Optional: Access the Recycle bin from the desktop app
Open the OneDrive app.
Windows: click the OneDrive cloud icon on the right side of your taskbar.
macOS: click on the OneDrive cloud icon on the top menu bar.
Click Recycle Bin. You will be brought to the Recycle Bin page on the OneDrive Website.
Select the folders/files you would like to restore. Click Restore.
Step 2: Check the Second-stage recycle bin
If you cannot find the item in your Recycle bin, you can check the Second-stage recycle bin. Items deleted from the Recycle bin are sent here after deletion. You may find it here depending on how long ago the file was deleted.
To access this bin, scroll down to the very bottom of your regular Recycle bin.
You may see the above link for a second, but then have more binned files load and need to continue scrolling down to the absolute bottom of the bin.

Alternative: OneDrive’s Restore tool
If you would instead like to restore your entire OneDrive to the way it was in a previous point in time, you can use the Restore tool. Please note that this will undo every change before your chosen time.
