Conducting a Webex Meeting

This page will serve as the backbone guide for participating in a Webex meeting, or “session”. This page will contain many links that will bring you to other guides for further explanation.

Types of Meetings

Starting/Joining the Meeting

  1. If you were invited, skip to Step 5

  2. Navigate to uconn-cmr.webex.com and sign in with your NetID

  3. If you do not see your meeting in Upcoming, click on Calendar in the left-hand menu.

  4. Click Start on the meeting.

  5. If you have Webex installed, your browser will ask for permission to open Webex. Allow it.

    1. If you do not have Webex installed, it will download a one-time file to run a temporary application.

Video Preview Screen

  • Before you start/join the session, you will see the video preview screen.

  • Here, check that your microphone and camera are selected: Changing Speaker, Microphone, and Camera Options in Webex

  • Change your virtual background (can be altered/removed during meeting): Webex Virtual Backgrounds

  • Click join when you are ready.

In the Meeting

  • A Webex meeting will run until the Host manually ends it, or until the last person leaves. If you drop out, simply rejoin the meeting using the steps above.

  • You may turn your camera and microphone on and off throughout the meeting by using the buttons at the bottom of the window.
