Convert Webex Recordings for Kaltura

This page goes over the practice of converting Webex recordings so that they can be uploaded to Kaltura and play properly. This can only be done using a Windows device using the program Axiom. This is necessary due to how Webex encodes their recordings.

Using Axiom to re-encode Webex recording for Kaltura

  1. Download and install Axiom on your windows computer.

  2. Download the Webex Recording locally to your computer. You only need the MP4 file and not the transcriptions as well.

  3. Within Axiom, choose input and select the video file downloaded from Webex.

  4. Set the following settings

    1. Format → Container: mp4

    2. Video → Video Codec: Copy

    3. Audio → Audio Codec: Copy

  5. Select Convert. Axiom will open a command prompt window and convert the file. This should only take a few seconds to convert. If it is taking longer, please recheck your settings.

  6. Upload the newly created file to Kaltura.
