Connecting your Webex Session to a UConn Room
This guide no longer applies to UConn rooms. Only follow this guide if it has been sent to you by a technician.
Faculty, students, and staff can use Webex-enabled rooms for remote teaching and learning.Ā
Certain rooms at the University have the ability to connect directly to your Webex session. When connecting to these rooms, your computer's webcam and microphone are disabled in favor of the camera and microphones built into the University room.
You must use the touch panel or microphone button to unmute yourself when connected to the classroom conferencing system. On the touch panel, the Mute toggle is in the top-left corner.
Go to the UConn classroom.
Use the UConn touch panel to choose the Video Conference source.
Open Webex on your computer.
At the Webex video preview window, click Connect to video system. On Mac or iOS, you may see Find DeviceĀ instead.
Click Search for or call a video system. Type the appropriate address found in the table below (in the Address Directory section).
Press [Enter] on your keyboard or click on the search result to connect to the classroom system. The room's address will now be shown after Call my device at...
Click Start Meeting.
These animated instructions show the optional step of displaying the session on your computer as well as displaying onĀ the classroom displays.
Wait for your Webex session to connect to the room. Once connected, your computer will show Connected to Video SystemĀ and you will see your profile picture or initials. You will also see the name of the session on the room display(s).
Optional: In the case that you would like to join on a second device, possibly a tablet or smartphone, forgo connecting to the audio portion of the call on the second device to prevent audio loops. Follow the instructions for the second device below.
Optional: If your classroom touch panel has aĀ Webex Room Commands button in the top-right corner, press this button to access Webex-specific commands.
Here, you may Mute your Participants, Lock/Unlock the Meeting and Record the Meeting or stop the Recording. If you would like to change the Participant Layout, press the button until you arrive at your desired layout.
All these functions may be accessed from your computer as well.
