Using OneDrive and Managing Files

With OneDrive, you can view the version history of your files, recover deleted folders and files, and control which folders are backed up to your computer and to OneDrive. UConn faculty, staff, and students may follow these guides to learn about OneDrive features and how best to use OneDrive.

I’ve followed the instructions and OneDrive is connected to my computer. Now what?

Once you have synchronized your computer with OneDrive, you can browse your files that are backed up by OneDrive as you normally would!

  • On your computer,

    • open File Explorer by clicking the icon, using the keyboard shortcut (Windows Key + E), or searching for it in the Start menu.

    • Open Finder by clicking on the icon or by pressing Command + Spacebar on your keyboard and searching for Finder.

Now that you’re looking at your files, click on OneDrive - University of Connecticut in the left hand menu. You can now see all of the files that are backed up to OneDrive as if they were any other file on your computer.

What do the icons next to my files mean? View the icon glossary on this guide.

If you see a folder entitled “PDrive” or “GDrive”, that is data that was previously stored in legacy locations. These files should be reorganized desired.
