OneDrive Business vs OneDrive Personal

“OneDrive Business” and “OneDrive Personal” are separate applications. If you’re uncertain of which one you have, you may uninstall the OneDrive app(s) from your computer. Next, follow this guide to install the correct app: Connect Computer to OneDrive

  • It is safe to simply uninstall the app because your files in the OneDrive folder on your computer are either already backed up, or sitting in the correct folder to be backed up after the reinstall.

    • Uninstalling the OneDrive app severs the link to OneDrive, it does not delete files.

  • If you bought a computer outside of the University, OneDrive Personal may have come pre-installed.

  • UConn users need to use OneDrive Business

  • If you are confused or need help transferring file out of your Personal account, please reach out at techsupport.uconn.edu.

The OneDrive Personal app will likely attach itself to your personal email. Unless you pay for OneDrive, this account will be limited to 5GB. Your UConn OneDrive account has 5TB (5,000GB) available.
