Trimming Webex Recordings

This trimming is only reflected when viewing the recording in the web player. If you download your recording, it will be the entire file. If you need to trim the downloaded file, ITS recommends using Kaltura which backs up (makes shareable online) and re-renders your recording simultaneously. Kaltura processing happens on the server-side; the speed (processing power) of your computer does not effect the speed at which you edit Kaltura videos. Learn how to edit videos on Kaltura at .

The owner of the recording can alter the playback range of recorded Webex videos while viewing them. The link to the recording that the owner shares will honor the trimmed playback range, even if the link has already been shared.

  1. Navigate to your recordings on webex.uconn.edu

  2. Open the recording by clicking on its title.

    open recording
  3. Click on the square icon that sits in the bottom-right corner of the video window.

    1. If you do not see the square icon, first check your web browser's zoom level. If the zoom level is 100% but you have a small screen, you may want to try zooming out (decreasing from 100%) to see if you can find the button.

      1. If you do not see the square icon, and/or your video player looks different than the one below, your recording probably used a different recording profile. See Webex Sharing Methods - Extra Info.

    1. Click on the Play button to test your new start time.

    2. Click on the checkmark to save your edit.

    3. Click on the X to cancel your changes.

    4. Click on the circular arrow to reset your playback range.

  5. The trim will take effect immediately because you are only altering the web player’s playback range.
