Trimming Webex Recordings
This trimming is only reflected when viewing the recording in the web player. If you download your recording, it will be the entire file. If you need to trim the downloaded file, ITS recommends using Kaltura which creates a new copy of your recording, which creates a backup of the file. Kaltura processing happens on the server-side; the speed (processing power) of your computer does not affect the speed at which you edit Kaltura videos. Learn how to edit videos on Kaltura at Editing Videos in Kaltura.
The owner of the recording can alter the playback range of recorded Webex videos while viewing them. The link to the recording that the owner shares will honor the trimmed playback range, even if the link has already been shared.
Navigate to your recordings on webex.uconn.edu
Open the recording by clicking on its title.
Click on the play button to decrypt and begin playing the recording. You may immediately pause the recording.
In the bottom-right of the video playback window, click on the pencil surrounded by brackets button.
If you do not see this icon, and/or your video player looks different than the one below, your recording probably used a different recording profile. See Webex Sharing Methods - Extra Info.
Drag the blue arrows to adjust the playback range.
Click on the Play button to test your new start time.
Click on the checkmark to save your edit.
Click on the X to cancel your changes.
Click on the circular arrow to reset your playback range.
The trim will take effect immediately because you are only altering the web player’s playback range. See note at the top of this page.
