Webex Recording Options
With Webex, students, faculty, and staff can customize their recordings' look and layout such that it differs from the Meeting's look and layout. Users can set up the recording to show all participants, only the active speaker, and content, or only the content, regardless of what your view was during the meeting.
Changing Recording Options during Session
Join the session and press Record
Click on Change Layout
Click on the two tabs to change the Recorder’s layout in the two scenarios.
Changing Recording Options before your Session
These settings can also be set during your call before you start recording.
To change your recording options,Â
Your recording settings will remain until you change them again. Verify that you have the appropriate settings.
Navigate to UConn Webex and sign in using your NetID.
Select the Preferences option in the left-hand menu, as shown in the image below.Â
Click on the Recording tab.Â
Here, you will see the option to turn off Recording Transcripts. Please note: transcriptions (captions) are required for public-facing videos. Videos created for your class, to be seen by your students, are not classified as public-facing.
Choose from the first set of view options.Â
Video Thumbnails View: This option will record the content as well as the thumbnail of each participant.
Active Speaker View: This option puts more emphasis on the content by only showing the thumbnail of the active (i.e., speaking) participant
Content-only View: This option puts the most emphasis on the content by only showing the content. No participants will be seen when there is content being shared.
Choose the layout for when there is no content being shared.
Grid View View: This option will show the last (up to) 25 users who have spoken on screen.
Active Speaker and Thumbnails View: This option will place emphasis on the current speaker, as well as the thumbnail of the last few speakers.
Active Speaker only View: This option only records the Active Speaker.Â
Blank view:Â no webcams will be recorded. See below:
Recording Only Audio
Your recording settings will remain as is until you change them. Verify that you have the appropriate settings before you begin your meeting.Â
