Joining a Webex Session
Anyone can join a Webex session that was created using a UConn Webex account. This article explains how to join a Webex session as a Participant.
If you are using a Chromebook or a computer running Linux, you need to use the Web App.
When you click on a Join Link, your computer will check if you have the Webex application installed. If you do not have it installed, it will ask you to download a one-time, one-session executable that will allow you to join the meeting with the full desktop-app experience. You may also join the Webex session right from your browser; this is known as the Web App. ITS recommends that the Host uses either the one-time download or the full Desktop App. Learn how to download the full application at Installing Webex Desktop App.
Click on the join link you were sent.
Webex will now check if you have the application installed on your computer.
If the application is installed, it will ask for permission it open.
If it is not installed, it will ask you to install a one-time use application in order to run the meeting. Download and Run this file.
If you are on a Chromebook or another Linux computer, click Cancel and then Join from your browser. For more help, visit Joining a Webex Session Through Your Browser
You will now see the video preview screen. Note that certain features may be disabled by the Host.
For more information about Virtual Backgrounds, see Webex Virtual Backgrounds.Â
If necessary, click on the caret next to Mute/Unmute to change your microphone or speaker selection.
