Stop Sharing an item in 365

Students, faculty, and staff can follow this guide to remove all users' access to a file or folder in OneDrive.

Follow this guide when you have shared an item in either OneDrive or SharePoint with many users, or have used multiple sharing methods, and wish to remove all access to the item.

You can instead “Manage Access” to an item if you wish to remove some of the access to the item: https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/27252752385

  1. Navigate to s.uconn.edu/onedrive or s.uconn.edu/sharepoint to view your files.

  2. Find the file or folder that you wish to remove all access from and right-click on it. You may also click on the ellipsis.

  3. Click on Manage Access.

  5. In this new window, click on Delete unique permissions in the top-left corner.

Deleting the unique permissions returns the folder to the same permissions of its parent folder (the folder that the current folder sits inside of). If the current folder is at the root (not inside of another folder), then the folder will take on the permissions of the OneDrive or SharePoint itself. In the case of OneDrive, this will make the item private to yourself.

  6. Click on OneDrive or SharePoint in the top left corner to return to the modern view.
