Create a Reservation

The EMS Desktop Client features a more robust scheduling feature set, allowing for a more granular approach to reservations and bookings than the more prescribed Web Application Templates. A Desktop Application user may use any configured value in their respective fields rather than just the few selected for use.

There are two primary methods by which a user may create a new reservation in the EMS Desktop Client: Starting the Reservation Book, and starting from the Reservation Wizard.

Starting from the Reservation Book

This method is best used when you already have a particular date/time and room in mind for your event.

  1. Open the Reservation Book from the Toolbar at the top of the window

  2. Navigate to your desired space and date in the Reservation Book

  3. In the row of your desired space, click and drag from your start time to your end time

  4. In the Reservation Wizard that opens, make any adjustments to date/time as necessary and select the desired event status from the drop-down menu flagged with a red dot. Click ‘Next’

  5. Fill out all required fields (marked with a red dot) in this next page. Note that the tabs in the bottom half of the window may have additional requirements depending on the space(s) chosen. Click 'Finish'

Starting from the Reservation Wizard

This method is best when you want to view multiple spaces applicable to your needs

  1. Open the Reservation Wizard from the Toolbar at the top of the window

  2. Fill in the required date and time information in the fields marked with a red dot, selecting all applicable dates as needed.

  3. In Location search on the right side of the window, fill in the fields desired such as Room Type, Building, available Setup Types, or even a specific room. Click Next

    1. If you did not select a specific room in this step, you will be prompted to pick from a list of specific rooms in the next pane.

  4. Fill out all required information denoted with a red dot in the next window. Note that depending on selected space(s) there may be additional required information in the tabs at the bottom half of the window.

 

You may click on additional dates in the Reservation Wizard’s calendar view to add more days as needed if they are available. You may also use the ‘Date Pattern’ Button to create a recurrence pattern

 

Once your event has been created, it can be searched and brought up in the Navigator to make adjustments, edits, cancellations, etc. You may also add service orders, categories, and other resources to the reservation as needed.
