User Permission Types
Users of the EMS Desktop Application have a User Access Template assigned to them that governs what spaces they can access, and which processes they may use. A user may have only one such template assigned to them for the Desktop Application.
General Scheduler
A General Scheduler has full scheduling access to their department’s controlled spaces. They may create reservations in any of their spaces, and modify any reservations in those spaces. They may use any resources or categories that they have been granted access to.
Schedulers may also serve as approvers for space requests made in the Web Application. Relevant schedulers will be notified via Notification Rule when a request requiring approval has been made. They will then be able to log into the Desktop Client, review the requested event, and approve the request.
Schedulers have access to pre-built reports that they may choose to run on their spaces as well should they require statistical data about their spaces.
Local Administrator
A Local Administrator has full scheduling access to their controlled spaces, as well as some amount of configuration access to those same spaces. This allows them to make smaller changes to their spaces as policy changes or requires without needing to open a ticket with ITS.
These configurations include:
Space/Room Configuration
Building Hours Configuration (If Applicable)
Billing Information
Notification Rules
Query and Report Creation/Delivery
Among these configurations, there are some that have global impacts in EMS. The following configurations form part of a global list:
Calendar Formats
Categories
Notification Rules (All Types)
Pricing Plans
Rate Schedules
Setup Types
These configurations include access to a global list of all such configurations. Each department is given an identifier which acts as a naming prefix to their department’s specific configurations. Those without prefixes, are considered Global, and are used by all departments. Adjustments to configurations should remain within your department specific allocations. Any changes needed to Global Configurations, should be brought to the ITS EMS Team for adjustment.
All other configurations such as Building Modification, New Space Creation, User Onboarding/Management, Web Application Management/Administration, and others require an ITS Support Request. You may make one here: https://kb.uconn.edu/portal/1
