Installing Java on Windows

Students, staff, and faculty can install Java on Windows computers. 

You must have administrator privileges to install Java. 

  1. Navigate to the Java website.

  2. Click on Free Java Download. 

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions on the install wizard. 

When installing Java 8 (8u20 and above), there is an option to uninstall older versions of Java. This is highly recommended by Java as leaving old versions of Java can pose security risks to the computer. Older versions of Java can be uninstalled using the Java Uninstall Tool.
