Microsoft MFA Enrollment
Microsoft multi-factor authentication via the Microsoft Authenticator app is required for all administrative UConn Microsoft accounts. The app is available on iOS and Android devices.
Requires at least Android 8.1 or iOS 15 and up.
If you do not wish to use the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can use a FIDO2 compatible Security Key. For more information, see: FIDO2 Security Key Enrollment for Microsoft MFA - Information Technology - Confluence (atlassian.net)
Install MS Authenticator on a mobile device
Enroll in Microsoft MFA ahead of time
Download the MS Authenticator app on your mobile device via your platform specific link above
Navigate to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info with your Microsoft 365 admin account (NetIDAdmin)
Choose Add sign-in method and select the Authenticator App
Follow the prompts on screen to add your UConn Microsoft 365 account to the authenticator app. Start at step 2 in the below guide for detailed instructions.
If you do not enroll in Microsoft MFA before 10/10/2024, you will be required to go through the enrollment process below upon your next login to a Microsoft service
Microsoft MFA Enrollment Process
Upon your next login to a Microsoft service, you will be prompted for “More information”
After downloading the Microsoft Authenticator app, select Next
Open the MS Authenticator app on your device, click the + symbol to add an account, and select “Work or school account”
Choose “Scan QR code” and hover your device’s camera over the QR code displayed on your computer. Your UConn Microsoft account will then be added to the MS Authenticator app.
Click Next and you will be sent a Push Notification to your Authenticator app, prompting you to enter the numbers displayed on your screen
On your device, enter the displayed numbers and click Yes
Once you see a success message on your computer, you have successfully set up Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication using the MS Authenticator app.
