Firefox Microsoft Single Sign On Configuration

Firefox has a native setting that enables the Microsoft Single Sign On feature without the need for installing an extension. Enabling this feature allows Firefox to notify Microsoft whether a device is managed or un-managed in a Microsoft 365 tenant.

Managed devices are not subject to the one-hour Idle Session Timeout Policy for Office 365 web apps.

If you are using Firefox on a UConn provided Windows laptop, this feature should be enabled by default. To confirm this, navigate to about:preferences#privacy in the Firefox address bar and look for the “Allow Windows single sign-on for Microsoft, work, and school accounts“ setting in the Passwords section.

Enabling the setting

  1. Open Firefox and navigate to “about:preferences#privacy” in the address bar

  2. Scroll down to the Passwords section, and enable the “Allow Windows single sign-on for Microsoft, work, and school accounts” setting

  3. The feature is now active and will keep you signed into Microsoft 365 web applications upon your next login with your UConn M365 account.
