Creating Handwritten Documents in OneNote

Using an iPad or other tablet device, you can use OneNote to record handwritten notes.

Getting Started

  1. Download Microsoft OneNote from the App Store and open the application.

  2. Click on the gear at the top right to open Settings.

  3. Tap on Account to ensure you are signed in with your UConn account. You can tap Add account to add additional Microsoft accounts.

Creating a New Notebook (iPad)

  1. On the bottom left of the home screen, click + Notebook to create a brand new notebook.

  2. Type in a new notebook name.

  3. Tap Create.

  4. Within the new notebook, you can tap + Section or + Page to create new sections and pages within the notebook.

  5. Tap on a page to open it within OneNote.

  6. In the top bar, tap on Draw.

  7. Scroll through the pen images to get to the right side of the top bar, and tap on the white plus button to Add Pen.

  8. Select the thickness and color of the pen.

  9. Using your stylus, you can now write on the virtual page.

  10. To add additional pages, tap + Page.
