Microsoft 365 A5 gives UConn faculty, staff, and students access to a multitude of new features that further assist the UConn community in collaborating and working remotely. Several important features of the A5 license have been listed below.

Features and Benefits

Large Mailbox Size: With the new A5 license, the primary mailbox now has a limit of 100GB.

Email Protection: A5 licensing provides up-to-date automatic protection to reduce the number of malicious phishing and spam emails that are received. In addition to better email protection, we can also secure Microsoft 365 and its services using multi-factor authentication.

Teams Dial-in Numbers: When a Teams user schedules a meeting in Outlook or Outlook Web App, the default audio conferencing number that is set for the user is included in the meeting invite.  During a Teams meeting, there is now a dial-in phone number that external users can call to join the meeting. This allows Teams to be used for meetings without installing the client.

Live Events

UConn users can broadcast video and meeting content to large online audiences. You can create a live event wherever your audience, team, or community resides, using Microsoft Stream, Teams, or Yammer. Teams live events are an extension of Teams meetings, enabling users to broadcast video and meeting content to a large online audience.

Microsoft Stream

Microsoft Stream is a Teams-compatible video sharing service that enables a team to upload and share videos securely. Stream supports live streaming and encourages collaboration through comments, tagging, and point-in-time video references. Microsoft Stream also helps you organize content into channels and groups so that it is easier to find.

Power BI Pro

The Power BI service is a cloud-based business analytics service that allows you to visualize and analyze data much faster and more effectively. Using the Power BI dashboard, you are able to view interactive reports and visualizations that bring your data to life. Power BI Pro allows you to publish content to workspaces, share dashboards, and subscribe to other dashboards and reports.

Microsoft Bookings

Microsoft Bookings assists with efficiently using time-consuming and repetitive scheduling tasks while optimizing your organizational resources. Customize appointment details, booking requirements, and specify service providers to streamline the booking experience. Integration with your calendar helps to quickly find available time to avoid double-booking, and an easy to navigate so that external users or students can find and book appointments around the clock.

Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise Download

The classic Microsoft 365 apps that you know and love are still included with this upgraded subscription, such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and more. These applications can be installed on up to five computers, five tablets, and five mobile devices, or you can access them at any time through the web.

OneDrive Storage

Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud file storage service. You have 5TB of storage and can save files, share them with both internal and external users, and edit the files simultaneously. Connect to all your files so you can share and work together from anywhere while protecting your work. Your offline edits will automatically sync the next time you connect. You can easily recover files from accidental deletes or malicious attacks and administrators can manage security policies to help keep your information safe.

Sharepoint Online

Microsoft SharePoint Online enables users to build websites, automate workflows, and communicate, while allowing administrators to control access to information.  SharePoint Online combines Newsfeed, OneDrive, and Sites, and is offered as part of the Microsoft 365 suite. With these three main hubs, SharePoint Online provides websites, document and file management, social networks, enterprise search, and business intelligence that can facilitate collaboration among team members. 

Microsoft Planner

Microsoft Planner is a task management feature compatible with Teams that allows a team site to create Plans containing the team's tasks. These tasks can be created by and assigned to all team members. Planner provides a collaborative space to manage workload and keep track of each member's responsibilities on projects and important jobs.

Microsoft To Do

Microsoft To Do is a digital to-do list that you can sync across your devices. With To Do, you can break tasks down into simple steps with due dates and reminders. Microsoft To Do also allows you to share lists with colleagues for collaboration.

MyAnalytics

MyAnalytics is a service that provides insight into how workers spend their time in order to optimize tasks and to help them work more efficiently. A weekly report is sent to the user with an overview of how their time was spent, and they can see the data collected by accessing their dashboard.

Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms is a lightweight app to create surveys, quizzes, and polls. These can be used to collect feedback, measure student or employee satisfaction, or as a classroom activity. Once created, these forms are shareable with users inside or outside of UConn. Microsoft Forms does not require a download and can be both created and filled out through a web browser.

Power Automate

Power Automate is a service that allows you to create automated workflows between your Microsoft applications without having any programming knowledge. For repetitive tasks, you can create an automated flow that performs on a schedule. Automated flows can be created to perform a set of tasks whenever it is triggered by an event.

Sway

Sway makes it easy to create and share interactive reports, personal stories, presentations, and more. Previously known as Flow, Sway streamlines the process so that you do not need to spend lots of time formatting, but can still make a visually pleasing and interactive presentation. Once you create a Sway, they are shareable with other UConn users, who can then access your creation online.

Delve

Use Delve to discover and organize important information across your Microsoft 365 applications in one central location. In Delve, you can create boards to pin important documents so that you can quickly access them. Delve also allows you to collaborate with others by showing you the documents your coworkers are working on.

OneNote Class Notebook

The OneNote Class Notebook helps faculty set up a OneNote for their class by offering a centralized Class notebook with three types of sub-notebooks. Each student is given a private notebook only viewable by them and the teacher. A notebook is available for the teacher to share course materials with students, which have read-only access. A notebook is available where both the students and the teacher can edit.
