Setting Up the Duo App for 2FA
Users enrolling in the two-factor authentication (2FA) service can choose to designate the Duo Mobile app on their phone or tablet as a second factor. The Duo Mobile app is the recommended method for authenticating at UConn. Click here to learn more about Duo 2FA.
Currently, the Duo mobile app is supported on Android 11 and up, and on iOS versions 16 and up.
What information is collected on my device?
Installing the Duo app on your device sends information about the phone model, OS version, and phone number (for texts) back to the Duo service. No other information about your device is collected.
Install and set up the Duo Mobile app
Begin by downloading the Duo Mobile app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
Go to uconn.login.duosecurity.com/devices and log in with your UConn email address and NetID password.
Select Add a device.
On the “Add a device” screen, select Duo Mobile.
Select your country code (+1 for US) from the drop-down and enter your cell phone number and select Add phone number. International numbers are supported.
Verify the phone number displayed is correct and select Yes, it’s correct.
You will be prompted to download the Duo Mobile app if you haven’t already. Click Next to continue.
The next screen will appear differently if you are on a phone vs. a computer.
a. If you are on a computer, you will be presented with a QR code to scan. Open the Duo app on your phone or tablet, tap Add, and select Use QR code. Hold the camera up to the computer screen to scan the QR code.
b. If you are already on your phone or tablet, click the Continue button.The process is complete.
