Event Fields
Event Title
Required Field
Event Titles are how you catch the community’s attention and make a first impression. Here are some rules and tips for writing event titles:
When possible, keep your event title under 8 words.
Select keywords that quickly communicate what your event is about.
Remember that thousands of users are viewing the Events Calendar daily, so write your title all of our audiences in mind. Some may be interested in your event, and others may not, but it’s your job to convey enough information that they can make that evaluation.
1-word titles are rarely useful.
DO NOT USE ALL CAPS. It makes us feel like you’re yelling at us.
Event Type
Event Types are used to categorize events in a broad way. They also serve as filters for users when searching for events.

Most events will have just one Event Type. Some may have none, and occasionally some events may have multiple Event Types.
Audience
Audiences represent some of the core groups of people found within the University community.
Events can be associated with one or more audiences. For instance, a Career Fair might be assigned to both the Undergraduate Students and Graduate Students audiences, because it is relevant to both groups.

Tags
Only Available to Calendar Admins
Calendar administrators can add tags to their events which serve as keywords to describe the event's content, theme, or other relevant attributes. Like Event Types, tags provide users with the ability to narrow down the list of displayed events.
Examples
Each football game is assigned an Event Type of Athletics & Recreation. Games are then tagged Football, so users can more easily find just football events.
The Writing Center creates a series of tutoring events. They assign an Event Type of Academic Support and add a Tag for Tutoring.
Global Tags
Global Tags are added by our system admins and available to all calendar administrators in the system. They are typically limited to topics/words that we believe will be useful to multiple units/calendars.
If you have a tag that would be useful to others, please share it with us by emailing eventscalendar@uconn.edu.
Calendar-Level Tags
Calendar administrators can create tags that are only available for their own calendar.
Starred Tags
If you ‘star’ tags in your calendar, they will be displayed on your calendar’s main page.
Example
The Mathematics Department starred their tag, Algebra Seminar.
When there are upcoming events marked with this tag, it will now show on the Mathematics Department’s calendar [https://events.uconn.edu/mathematics-department/] under Tags.
Starred Tags will only show if there are events marked with the tag. If there are no events marked with Algebra Seminar, it will not show on the group’s events page.
Date & Time
Required Field
An Event Date is required for all events and will remain red until a date has been selected.
Please note the Start Time of your event when appropriate.
Additional Options
Only Available to Calendar Admins
All Day
Checking the All Day box will remove the Start Time field from your event.
Add Ending Date & Time
Checking this box will add Ending Date and Time fields to your event.
Multi-Day Events – If you check the All Day field, the next box will convert to just Add Ending Date. You can then note the starting and ending dates of an event, without having to specify hours. This is a great option for multi-day events like HuskyWOW and conferences.
Repeating Event
Check the Repeating Event box to create a customized repeating pattern for your event. Options include:
Daily
Every weekday (Monday to Friday)
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Every Tuesday and Thursday
Weekly
