Finding an IP Address

Students, faculty, and staff can find their IP address, which is necessary for certain programs or support requests.

Using Command Prompt

  1. Click on the Magnifying Glass or in the Search box in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

  2. Type cmd, and select the Command Prompt app.

  3. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig, and press Enter on your keyboard.

  4. The IP address will be listed under IPv4.

Using Network and Sharing Center

  1. Right-click on your Wireless/Ethernet icon in the bottom right of your screen, and click Network and Sharing Center or Open Network & Internet settings.

  2. On the left, select Ethernet for a wired connection, or Wi-Fi for a wireless connection.

  3. Select the displayed connection icon (should say "Connected" beneath it). 

  4. The IP address will be listed next to IPv4 Address. 

  1. Click the Apple icon at the top left corner of the screen.

  2. Select System Settings.

  3. Select the Network Icon.

  4. From the list on your right, select the Active Connection.

  5. Select Details…

  6. The IP address will be listed in the new window that appears.

  1. Click on the icons that sit on the right-hand side of the top menu bar. 

  2. Click on either Wired Connection or Wi-Fi then click on Settings.

  3. Click on the settings cog next to the on/off toggle for the network connection.

  4. You will see the IP address listed for IPv4.
