Setting Up Remote Desktop on Android as a Local Device
You can configure and set up Microsoft Remote Desktop from your Windows workstation computer to a personal android device.
Installing the Supported Client
Use this link to install the Microsoft Remote Desktop application, or search "Microsoft Remote Desktop" in the Google Play Store.
Click Install, and then click Accept.
Creating the Remote Gateway
The remote Gateway is not necessary if you already use the Pulse Secure VPN or have Direct Access. However, the gateway is highly recommended as it means you do not need Direct Access or Pulse VPN in order to connect.
Open Microsoft Remote Desktop application on your mobile device.
If you are shown a screen displaying the newest update, hit the back arrow in the upper left corner.
Open the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select Gateways.
Tap Plus.
Fill out the fields as follows:
Gateway Name: UCONN Network
Server: remote.uconn.edu
Username: UCONN NetID
Password: NetID password
Tap the checkmark in the upper right-hand corner.
A remote desktop gateway should now be created.
Creating the Connection
Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.
Tap the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select Remote Desktops.
Tap Plus.
Fill out the fields as follows:
Connection Name: UConn Work PC
PC Name: Full Computer Name
Username: UCONN NetID
Password: NetID password
Tap the checkmark in the upper right-hand corner.
You should now see your PC under Remote Desktops. Tap this to connect to your PC.
ITS has turned on two-factor authentication (DUO) for the Remote Desktop service to enhance security.
