Setting Up a Tablet for 2FA
Faculty, staff, and students enrolling in the two-factor authentication (2FA) service can choose to designate a tablet as a second factor. A second factor is a device that you own that will be linked to your NetID.
These directions are for adding your first 2FA device. If you already have added a device to the service, see Adding a Backup Device.
Adding a Tablet
Begin by downloading the Duo Mobile app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
Go to netid.uconn.edu/tools/duo/ and log in with your NetID and NetID password.
You will be greeted with a “Welcome to Duo Security” screen. Click Next until you reach the “Select an option” screen.
Select Duo Mobile.
When prompted to enter your phone number, select I have a tablet.
The next screen will prompt you to download the Duo Mobile app if you haven’t already. Click Next to continue.
The next screen will appear differently if you are on a tablet vs. a computer.
a. If accessing from a computer, you will be presented with a QR code to scan. Open the Duo app on your tablet, tap +Add, and select Use QR code. Hold the tablet up to the computer screen to scan the QR code.
b. If accessing from a tablet, simply click the Continue button.The process is complete.
