Deister Key Cabinet

Deister Key Cabinet

UConn staff can utilize the Deister Key Cabinet to organize and manage their department keys via the use of the UConn OneCard.

Reach out to techsupport@uconn.edu to begin the process of acquiring and configuration.

Key Cabinets

Key cabinets can contain one or more panels, each of which can hold multiple RFID slots for keyTags. Keys, key fobs, ID badges or other small items can be attached to each keyTag.

Each keyTag contains a security seal to indicate if it was tampered with. Keys cannot be removed from the keyTag without breaking the seal. A tool is available to break seals, and additional keyTags and seals can be purchased.

How is the Key Cabinet accessed?

Users present their Husky OneCard to the keypad in order to authenticate.

How does the Key Cabinet communicate?

The keybox requires a DHCP IP reservation to communicate with a local management server. UITS Network Operations can assign this address to the network jack.
