Deister Key Cabinet - Adding New KeyTags

Deister recommends loading all keyTags into a cabinet, even if they have no keys on them. The keyTags will have default names corresponding to the panel and slot number. Then, assign all the keyTags using the terminal, and the unassigned keys list will be empty. When you want to utilize those keyTags, they can be renamed, have keys added to them on rings, and have appropriate permissions assigned to them.

Adding an Unassigned Key

  1. Visit the web portal:

  2. Click on the keyTags tab then click on the Create keyTag subtab.

  3. Fill in the “keyTag display name” field.
Do not include special characters. This will be how the keyTag is displayed in the terminal for users.
This will add the keyTag into the Unassigned KeyTags section on the left of the screen and make it available to be assigned in the terminal.

  4. Click on the Terminal tab and assign the keyTag to your cabinet and select the Position (slot) into which you want the keyTag to reside.

If there are any keyTags remaining in the Unassigned keyTags list, this will likely cause the database sync between Deister and Genetec to fail. After keyTags are added, they should immediately be assigned.
