Minitab Licensing Changes

Due to changes made by the vendor, individuals must have a Minitab account in order to use the latest version of Minitab.  The UConn Minitab License was decommissioned on 12/31/2021, all installations of Minitab that relied on the UConn Minitab license server will no longer function.

Individuals can request a Minitab Account from the UConn Software Page. 

Minitab Account Details

  • Individuals can access, download, and license the latest version of Minitab (Minitab 21) using Minitab Accounts in the Minitab Online portal.

  • Individuals can request Minitab Accounts through the ITS-managed form on the UConn Software website, and they will be able to use their UConn email address and University credentials to license installations of the latest version of Minitab downloaded through the Minitab Online portal.  

  • Individuals must log into locally-installed instances of Minitab with their Minitab Account in order to use it.  

  • An internet Connection is required to access the software

  • The latest version of Minitab (Minitab 21) is currently available in UCONN Anyware Desktop; individuals must use their Minitab Account in order to log into it.

  • Individuals have access to Minitab Online in the Minitab Online portal – which is described as a fully-working version of Minitab running virtually in a browser.

  • Minitab Online is not managed by UConn; it is managed by the vendor.

  • IT staff need a Minitab Account in order to get a copy of Minitab for use with the computers they manage. 

Previous Versions of Minitab and the UCONN Minitab License Server:

  • Minitab will no longer use or support a license server going forward, and the Minitab license server was decommissioned on 12/31/2021.

  • Minitab 18, Minitab 19, and Minitab 20 for Mac and Windows licensed by the UConn Minitab license server will no longer function after our license server was decommissioned.

  • Minitab 18, Minitab 19, and Minitab 20 for Mac and Windows will not be compatible with the Minitab Accounts.

  • Minitab 18, Minitab 19, Minitab 20, and Minitab Express are no longer be available in UConn Anyware Desktop.

  • Minitab 19 for Mac was the last version for macOS; all future local client installs of Minitab will be Windows only.

  • Minitab Express for Windows and Mac are both being discontinued.
