Is my computer "Intune-enrolled"?

ITS uses device management software to provide support, programs, and access management for university devices. Historically, ITS has used a program called Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM) to manage computers running Windows. Starting in February 2023, ITS began transitioning to a new management software called Microsoft Intune. It provides numerous benefits for IT technicians and end-users and more closely meets today’s computing needs. A large portion of computers managed by ITS are now using Intune as their primary management system. Older computers that have not been transitioned are now “co-managed”, meaning that they receive management commands by both MECM and Intune.

Some processes and workflows that you are used to on your university-issued computer may be different on an Intune-enrolled computer. When following how-to articles in the Information Technology knowledge base, you may see instructions pertinent only to Intune-enrolled computers. This article will let you know if your computer is enrolled in Intune.

Intune is only used to manage university-issued computers running Windows. Macs and personally-owned devices are not enrolled in Intune.

How to check Intune enrollment

Purchase date

If your Windows computer was purchased in the University PC Refresh Program in February 2023 or later, then it should be enrolled in Intune.

Login method

If you use your UConn email and password to sign in, it is most likely Intune-enrolled. If you use your NetID and password to sign in, it is not Intune-enrolled.

Last reimage/deployment date

If your computer is serviced by ITS and was imaged/set up in early 2023 or later, it is most likely enrolled in Intune.

Software distribution

ITS-managed computers use two different software distribution platforms to deliver managed applications. The platform(s) installed will provide insight on status of enrollment.
