Create a Personal LastPass account through LastPass Families

To use LastPass for your personal passwords, you must create a separate account that you can access after you leave UConn. When you create this personal account through LastPass Families, you can still access the same premium features that you have on your UConn LastPass account (the one you access with your UConn email, firstname.lastname@uconn.edu, and NetID password).

UConn has partnered with LastPass to provide a LastPass Families account for active UConn students, faculty, and staff. This is a personal LastPass account granted to you that also includes five (5) additional LastPass licenses, which you can grant to individuals closest to you - family, friends, anyone you care about - so they can also use LastPass to keep their digital lives safe. Once you leave UConn, these accounts will lose their premium business features and become LastPass Free accounts. For information on this change, visit: LastPass Free vs. Premium.

How to set up a Personal LastPass account through families as benefit

1. Enter your LastPass vault and click Account Benefits from the sidebar menu.

   Click Account Benefits to add a personal LastPass account.

2. Click Activate LastPass Families for free.

3. Enter the personal email address that you wish to set up a LastPass account for and click Let’s go.

4. Check your personal email inbox for a registration email from LastPass and click the link to Activate your Account. Once redirected, create a master password for your account and click Save Master Password.

5. Return to your UConn Lastpass vault and click Back to Account Benefits.

6. The status of the personal account is shown as claimed or pending. If the status is pending, return to your email inbox and follow the instructions in your verification email.

   Your LastPass personal account has been activated.

Optional: Link your LastPass personal account to your UConn account so you can access everything in both vaults with a single login.

Your personal account has been activated and will have the same premium features as your UConn LastPass account during your time at UConn. When you leave the university, you will not lose access to your vault and it will convert to a LastPass Free account.
