Adding Exceptions in Ultra Course View

This article is for instructors or TAs who want to add an assessment exception for students.

Overview

In Ultra, there are Exceptions and Accommodations.

  • Exceptions are applied to a specific assessment for a specific student.

  • An Exception can be used to give students:

    • An alternative due date

    • Additional attempts

    • Alternative access times

  • Accommodations function like a general rule. Once an Accommodation is given to a student, that accommodation automatically applies to all course assessments.

Adding Exceptions

  1. Navigate to your Ultra course.

  2. Select the Gradebook tab.

  3. Choose the assignment you would like set an exception.

  4. Click the three dots next to the student’s name you desire to give an exception and Add or edit exceptions.

  5. From the right side popup panel, you can adjust Assessment due date, show date, and Attempts allowed.

  6. Once the setting is done, click Save.

You can also remove the exception from Add or edit exceptions. On the top of the right side panel, it will give an option of Reset settings. After resetting, please make sure it is saved.
