Classroom Technology

All generally scheduled classrooms are equipped with standard classroom technology that is maintained and refreshed by ITS. These classrooms are controlled by a touch panel on the teaching station, which gives the user full control over all audiovisual features in the classroom.

  • If the Panel appears to be off, tap on it once to wake it up.

  • If you see the UCONN logo, tap on it once to turn on the classroom system.

Classroom Touch Panel Functions

The following list corresponds to the numbers superimposed onto the classroom touch panel screenshot below:

  • (1) Projector / Front and Rear Monitor Power: These buttons will turn the projector/front/rear display(s) on and off. Use this when you don’t want your presentation to be viewable by the students in the room. The projector needs to enter a cooling and warming period if you turn it completely off using the ON / OFF buttons.

  • (2) Camera Selection: If the room has more than one camera available, these buttons will allow you to toggle between which camera view you would like to use, as well as provide you with a selection of camera presets on a new popup window.

  • (3) Computer, HDMI/USB-C Laptop, and Wireless Presentation Connections: Please use these buttons to select the source that you would like to use for your presentation. Selecting one of these options will turn the displays/projection systems on as well. The Computer button will send the built-in, classroom computer to the projector or front display(s). Sign into the PC with your Email Address and NetID Password for a full Windows PC experience. ***Make sure to log out of the room pc when you are finished*** The Document Camera button will send the rooms Document Camera image to the main projector or displays in the room. Please note that the Document Camera must first be turned on by using the power button located on top of it. The Document camera will turn off when you select the “System Off” button. The HDMI/USB-C Laptop buttons will select either the HDMI or USB-C connections. The USB-C cables carry the audio and video signal of Laptops and some handheld devices. You do not need Thunderbolt for this option and the cable ONLY carries audio and video signals (no USB connection). The Wireless Presentation button will give you the ability to wirelessly share your laptop, phone, or tablet screen with the classroom. Follow the instructions on the main display once you have selected this option.

  • (4) System OFF: This button will turn off the AV system in the room. Please note that this button does not power cycle the room PC.

  • (5) Kaltura Live Lecture Capture: The classroom system can record your lecture directly to your Kaltura account. You may also have the option to Live-Stream your lecture in real-time (45-second delay, one-way communication).

  • (6) Help: The help page displays the Classroom Support help number.

  • (7) Volume Control Panel: The Source Volume buttons raise and lower the volume of your selected presentation source in the room. The Mic Volume buttons raise and lower the volume of the instructors lapel or handheld microphone in the room. Please note that this button will not raise or lower the ceiling or desktop mic volume in the room.

  • (8) Ceiling/Desk Microphones: Ceiling Microphones pick up the voices of students in the classroom. This enables them to participate in video calls. If there is a desktop mic on the teaching station, this button will mute it as well.
