HTML File Fails to Upload in Ultra Course View

Problem

Blackboard has recently updated its content sanitization process. Content sanitization is a crucial security measure that screens uploaded files for potentially harmful code before storing them on Blackboard's servers. This helps prevent malicious content from being introduced into the system, which could otherwise lead to serious consequences like data breaches or system failures.

Details

ITS HuskyCT admins have learned that Blackboard now has stricter limitations on the types of HTML files that can be successfully uploaded to Courses and Organizations. Specifically, it appears that the platform may be more restrictive when it comes to loading external resources such as CSS files or scripts, within the HTML content. This suggests that Blackboard is taking a more cautious approach to ensure the safety and integrity of the content hosted on its platform.

For users who need to share content on Blackboard, it is important to be mindful of these changes and to test the upload process thoroughly. Simple HTML files without external dependencies are more likely to pass the sanitization checks and be successfully stored on Blackboard's servers. By understanding these platform-specific requirements, users can ensure their content is delivered seamlessly and securely to the wider Blackboard community.
