Student Accommodations in Ultra Course View

This article is intended for instructors looking to use the accommodations feature in Ultra for students who have received an official Accommodation from the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD).

Overview

  • In Ultra, instructors can use Accommodations and Exceptions to allow students different assessment conditions then the general class.

  • Accommodations function as a rule. Once an accommodation is given to a student, that accommodation automatically applies to ALL course assessments.

    • There are 2 types of accommodations that can be added for students:

      • Time limit accommodation

      • Due date accommodation

    • Instructors or TAs can add Accommodations for students from the Roster page.

    • Accommodations are indicated with a purple flag icon next to the students name.

  • Students with a due date accommodation never have their work marked late. When students with accommodations are in a group, all students in that group also receive the accommodation.

  • If instructors want to provide an extended/alternative due date, they can use the Exceptions feature.

  • For instructions on adding a due date accommodations, see the steps outlined in the Time Limit Accommodation section above.

Accommodations generally “override” release conditions. However, if a test settings is set to “Prohibit Late Submissions” and a student requires a time limit accommodation, the test will automatically submit regardless of the accommodation. To avoid this, instructors can provide the student with a due date and time limit accommodation. The due date accommodation can be removed at the end of the exam window.
