Form Rules

Overview

A field or section of a form can be hidden or made visible based on selections the submitter makes in another part of the form. In other words, business rules/logic can be defined within the form. For example, certain options made during submission and/or answers to form questions can hide or display sections and fields.

See the following example:

Multiple Choice Field

  1. Drag and drop the Multiple Choice field into the center panel of your form. (See Form Builder - Gadget Definitions.)

2. Give it a Gadget Label/Question of "Are you traveling outside the U.S. or Canada?"

3. Enter two options: Yes and No under "Options" in the Configuration panel.

Example of a multiple choice field

When “YES" is selected as an answer, the Country Picker will display.

Country Picker Field

  1. Drag and drop the Country Picker field into the center panel of your form. (See Form Builder - Gadget Definitions.)

2. In the Gadget Label/Question box, type: "International Destination."

3. Click the toggle switch next to Limit visibility based on other gadgets to expose the rule dropdowns.

4. From the dropdown, select the "Are you traveling outside the U.S. or Canada?" option.

5. From the next dropdown, select "Is."

6. From the last dropdown, select "Yes."

If the end user selects "yes," to the question "Are you traveling outside the U.S. or Canada?," then the "International Destination" field will appear.

Conditional Visibility rules

7. You may need to add additional Conditional Visibility rules to your settings. If this is the case, click + Add visibility rule just below your first rule.

8. From the drop down that appears you can select another field or the same field you selected for the first rule. Create another rule.

9. Once the additional rules have been created, you can then choose how the system interacts with multiple rules. Listed above the conditional rules is a dropdown that allows you to apply the rules if any or all of the following are true.
