Publishing Tests from Respondus 4.0 to Blackboard Ultra

Step One: In Respondus 4.0 

  1. Run the Respondus 4.0 Application on your computer. Don’t have Respondus 4.0? Find download and use instructions here: Respondus 4.0 - Teaching and Learning - UConn Knowledge Base 

 

  1. Within Respondus 4.0, select the Start tab, then select Import Questions

  1. On the Import Questions dialogue box, under the Select Type of File section, go to Type of file, then select the drop-down arrow. For best results, select Plain Text 

  2. To upload your Microsoft Word file, saved as .txt, go to File Name, then select Browse and select the file you want to import 

  3. Go to the Choose where to add the new Questions sectionand enter the new document name (Create a new document will be preselected)

  4. You must preview your questions, this allows you to detect any possible issues, select Preview

 7. Select Finish to complete the process

 8. A dialogue box will appear noting that the file was saved. Select OK

 9. This will bring you to the Edit screen. From here, you will continue forward by navigating to the Preview & Publish tab.

10. In the left-hand menu, select Publish then select the Publish Wizard button

  1. Under Type of Publish, the system defaults to Publish to single course. This is ideal for most situations. Select Next to continue.

  1. Follow the prompts to log in to HuckyCT within Respondus 4.0. Note, the pop-up will appear as “Blackboard Authorization”. There is no need to open a web browser to navigate to HuskyCT, the Respondus 4.0 system is using an integrated authorization tool.  

  2. Once you have logged in and the home page has loaded, select Continue After Login in the upper right-hand corner of the pop-up window.

  1. This will close the pop-up window and return you to the Publish Wizard in Respondus 4.0. You may now click OK as the login process is complete.

  1. Now you will select the drop down to Choose Course to publish to

  2. Click Create new pool 

  3. Select Next.

  1. The Status Window will load. When all content has been transferred, the window will look like this:

  1. You may now select Finish. 

 

Step Two: In Blackboard 

  1. Open a Blackboard Ultra course. On the Course Content page, under the Details and Actions section, select Manage Banks. You will now find your Respondus 4.0 assessment pool here.

  1. You will now find your Respondus 4.0 assessment pool here, now a “Question Bank” in Ultra View, with the added qualifier “Published from Respondus” under the title. You may further manage the question bank from this view or create a test using the question bank.
