Using Student Preview Mode
Faculty and staff can view and/or attempt assignments, discussion boards, journals, exams, and other content as a student user in HuskyCT.
Click on the student preview mode icon at the top right corner of the screen (i.e., the icon that looks like an eye). This will enable Student Preview mode, which allows you to see the page display as it would for a student user.
Once you are in the student preview mode, you can view and perform all functions, including taking quizzes and submitting assignments, just as a student would.
You will see an orange bar appear at the top of the page (as shown in the image below), which indicates student preview mode is on.
To keep your student preview user, select Settings from the orange bar. Keeping the preview user is recommended because it allows instructors to more fully review and test course content, such as taking and grading Tests and Assignments, viewing and participating in content related to the Groups tool, and other functions.
Select the Do not ask me about the preview user when exiting student preview. Always take the following action option. Doing so will allow you to view additional options for preview settings.
Select the Keep the preview user and all data option.
Select Save.
Click on Exit on the orange bar to exit Student Preview. You will now see a user in your roster named PreviewUser_(yourname). You can apply various rules to this "user" to preview tests, assignments, and groups as the instructor.
When using the Student Preview Mode to view content or assessments created related to the Groups tool, i.e. Group Assignments, Group Discussion Boards, etc., you will need to make sure you have added your preview user to the relevant group(s) before trying to view that content/assessment as a student. If you do not, you will not see the group-related content.
