Adding files from Microsoft OneDrive to a HuskyCT Ultra Course

This guide will help faculty share files from their Microsoft 365 cloud storage (OneDrive and SharePoint) to their students using HuskyCT (Blackboard). This method of sharing gives your students links to files rather than posting the file itself on HuskyCT. Sharing with this method allows you to alter your files after you have shared them.

Optional Review: Storing files in 365

If you would like a refresher on using OneDrive or SharePoint to store and access files, please review our help guides:

1) Sharing your files though HuskyCT

This guide assumes that you are storing your course materials in your personal OneDrive instead of a SharePoint shared with your department coworkers. If you are using SharePoint, the steps are very similar; simply visit s.uconn.edu/sharepoint instead of OneDrive.

This guide will use the web app (website) view of OneDrive. These steps can also be followed using File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (macOS).

ITS tested the built-in integrations of OneDrive in HuskyCT, and they do not function appropriately. Please use the “Web Link” function as described below.

Scenario 1) All course materials should be visible to your students from the first day

If it is appropriate for your students to see all of the course materials from day-one, then you may simply place all the files into one folder and share the folder with your students.

Scenario 2) Course material should become visible at certain times

If it is appropriate for course materials to become visible at certain times throughout the semester, follow these instructions.

2) Posting the link in your course

The Share Link can be added to any post in HuskyCT. The steps below however will show you how to create a link-focused post.

3) Future: Sharing or Re-sharing links to certain files

Even though you have already shared the file or folder with students, and they can go look for it, you can quickly send them a direct link to the file as well.
