VoiceThread Assignment: Comment

This article is intended for instructors looking to create a VoiceThread (VT) “Comment” assignment. A “Comment” assignment requires students to add a specified number of comments (and/or slides) onto an instructor created VoiceThread.

Overview

  1. When an Instructor builds a “Comment” assignment, the instructor must select a VoiceThread for commenting.

    1. If the instructor selects an existing VoiceThread, the Comment assignment will create an “assignment version” for students to comment on. The original version of the existing VoiceThread will remain unaltered. It is recommended that instructors create their VoiceThread in advance so that it can be reused as a template in the future. 2. If the instructor creates a new VoiceThread for commenting from the VoiceThread Comment Assignment link, they will be unable to reuse that VoiceThread.

  7. From the next page, provide an assignment name (this will be the name of the link in HuskyCT) and enter the Instructions (this will be visible for students after they click the assignment link).

    1. Entering a Start Date, Due Date, and Close Date is optional. These dates will specify when students can/cannot access the assignment.

    2. The “Assessment” options determine the possible points of the Grade Center column that is automatically created after publishing the assignment. Warning: Do not change the possible points of the VT assignment column after it has been published. This will break the grading mechanism.

      1. Percentage: the assignment (and grade center column) has 100 possible points.

      2. Complete/Incomplete: assignment (and grade center column) has 1 possible point.

      3. Points: allows you to specify the possible points from 0-100. If ‘0' is chosen, '0’ is also the maximum points that can be input during grading. VoiceThread is not designed for use as extra credit.

  8. Click Publish to finish.

  9. Once you see the “Success!” message, close the tab. Refresh your HuskyCT browser window, and the assignment link will appear.
