Creating an Individual VoiceThread (Instructors)

This article is for faculty and instructors seeking to add pre-recorded (asynchronous) presentation/lecture content that users can view and comment on.

Overview:

An Individual VoiceThread is for students to view and comment on video or presentation content.

  • An Individual VoiceThread cannot require viewing or commenting by users, and there is an ungraded VoiceThread.

  • For gradable VoiceThreads which require students to view and/or comment see the following article.

  • An individual VoiceThread is linked to the VT homepage. Comments made on an Individual VoiceThread in the course will also appear on the VoiceThread in the VT home page.

Instructions:

  1. From your HuskyCT Original course, navigate to the content area page where you would like to create the VoiceThread.

  2. Under the Build Content drop-down menu, scroll down and select VoiceThread.

  4. From the Share individual VoiceThread page, you can select an existing VoiceThread you own, or click Create a new VoiceThread.

  5. Select the source, and then select the files/media content that you want to add to the new VoiceThread as background slides.

  6. After you have added the initial files/media, they will populate as slide media. You can add additional media, or if you are ready to start adding comments to the VT slides, click Continue.

  7. From the VT slides you can add Comments.

  8. Once you are finished recording Comments, click Continue.

  9. Then specify the commenting and playback settings and permissions that your students will have while viewing the Individual VoiceThread. Click Continue when finished.

  10. Enter the Activity name. This is the name of the link that will be displayed in your HuskyCT course.

  11. Then click Publish.

  12. You will receive a “Success!” message. Close that tab and refresh your HuskyCT browser page, and the Individual VoiceThread link will appear in the course in the location it was created.
