Creating a VoiceThread (from the VT Homepage)

This article is for users who want to create a new VoiceThread that can be selected from within HuskyCT for the creation of VoiceThread assignments (instructors) or as a 'create' assignment submission (students).

The VoiceThread homepage must be accessed from within a HuskyCT course via a VT Homepage link.

  • Only instructors can create a VT Homepage link in their course.

  • It is recommended that instructors hide the VT homepage link from students unless student need to access this space.

Step 1: Creating a new VoiceThread

  1. Within your HuskyCT course, navigate to the VoiceThread (VT) Homepage link.

  2. From the VoiceThread homepage, you can start creating a new VoiceThread by clicking the “+” button.

Step 2: Adding Media

  1. Next, click the source of the files that you will use as your VoiceThread slide media.

  2. If you are adding from computer, locate your media files and select them for upload. Upload-able file types include images, videos, audio, PDFs, docx, and PowerPoint. **Note: PDF and Word files will populate 1 page per slide, and PowerPoint will populate as flat individual slides without animations.

  3.  After adding your slide media, they will render as thumbnails.

    1. You can click on “Untitled to rename the VoiceThread

    2. You can adjust the settings for the VoiceThread

    3. You can click on the thumbnail to add Comments.


Step 3: Adding Comments

After opening the VoiceThread, you can add Comments to your slide media.

  1. On any slide, click the Comment speech bubble icon to open the commenting options.

  2. There are 4 possible commenting options. Please see Commenting on a VoiceThread for more detail.

    1. Text comment

    2. Audio comment 

    3. Video + Audio comment 

    4. Upload an audio file 

  3. After you have finished commenting you can exit VoiceThread.
