VoiceThread Assignments

This article is for instructors seeking to create a gradable VoiceThread assessment in HuskyCT.

Overview:

  • There are 3 types of VoiceThread (VT) assignments that can be created within HuskyCT: Watch, Comment, Create.

  • When a VT assignment is created, a linked Grade Center column is created.

  • VT assignments should be graded from the VT assignment link (not Needs Grading or the Grade Center).

VoiceThread assignments are not designed for use as Extra credit. After the possible points for a VoiceThread assignment have been specified, changing the possible points will break the grading mechanism. More detail about the possible points for each assignment type is provided on each assignment type’s page (links listed below).

Creating a VoiceThread Assignment

  1. Open your HuskyCT course and navigate to the Content Area page where you want to add a VoiceThread link.

  2. Under the Build Content drop-down menu, scroll down and select VoiceThread.

  3. A new tab will open and display the VoiceThread setup menu. Select Assignment Builder.

  4. This will open the Assignment Builder menu, which contains 3 assignment types: Watch, Comment, Create.  Each requires students to complete a gradable task.

    1. Create: requires students to create their own VoiceThread (gradable). Instructors can enable a Student Gallery so students can comment on their peers' VoiceThreads (not gradable). VoiceThread Assignment: Create

    2. Comment: requires students to make 1+ comments on an instructor created VoiceThread. For more information, refer to: VoiceThread Assignment: Comment
