Student Accommodations in Ultra

This article is intended for instructors looking to provide extra time or a different exam date as an accommodation to students.

Extra Time

This grants an accommodation to the user for all timed assessments, both timed Tests and Assignments. This setting applies course-wide.

  1. Navigate to your course in HuskyCT.

  2. Under the Details and Actions menu, look for Roster.

  3. Click View Everyone in your Course.

  4. Find the student you want to grant a time accommodation for.

  5. Click the 3 dots to the far right in the same row as the student.

  6. On the drop-down menu, click Accommodations.

  7. A new windows will appear to the right titled Accommodations.

  8. Check the box next to Time limit Accommodation.

  9. Check either Custom percentage or Unlimited time.

    1. Custom percentage: Enter the additional time you want to give the student as a percent. For example, if you want to give an accommodations for time and a half, enter 50%.

    2. Unlimited time: The student won’t be subject to any timer.

  10. Click Save

 


Different Exam Date or Time

These setting will override a Date/Time Release Condition set on the assessment. However, if the visibility is set to Hidden From Students, these settings will not make the item available.

  1. Navigate to your course in HuskyCT.

  2. Find the test you want to give a specific student a different exam date or time for.

  3. Click on the test to open it.

  4. On the Test page, click the Submissions link in the upper right corner.

  5. On the Submissions Page, you will see all the students and their scores on the test.

  6. Find the student you want to give an accommodation for.

  7. In the same row as the student, click the 3 dots to the far right.

  8. On the drop-down menu, click Add or Edit Exceptions

  9. A new window, titled User or Group Exceptions will appear on the right hand side of the screen.

  10. Check the box next to Show on and/or Hide after to give the student access to the test outside of the normal window.

    1. Show on: The date that the assessment will be visible for the specific student. This date must be before the assessment Due Date.

    2. Hide after: That last day the specific student can access the assessment. This date must occur after the assessment Due Date.

  11. Click Save
