Using Student Preview in Ultra Course View
This article is intended for instructors looking to use Student Preview mode.
Overview
Student Preview mode allows instructors to experience their course from the student perspective.
Entering Student Preview mode creates a temporary student user with the instructor’s name. As a preview user, the instructor can:
experience student-side course navigation
check assessment/content visibility and access,
take tests or submit assignments
When exiting student preview mode, if the preview user is saved, instructors can also:
be added to Groups to test group assignments and group adaptive release content
provide grading and feedback for their preview user’s submission
test out grade calculations in the Gradebook
Video Instructions
Entering Student Preview Mode
Within your Ultra course, on the Course Content page, click Student Preview in the upper right corner.
Click Start Preview to enter Student Preview mode.
In Student Preview mode, there will be a dark grey bar across the top of the course.
To exit Student Preview, click the Exit on the top right corner.
Click either Discard or Save to exit student preview mode.
Discard: This will delete your preview user and all preview user data from the course.
Save: This will preserve your preview user and all data in the course.
Student Preview Limitations
Student Preview will not give an accurate representation of LTI tools such as WebEx as they rely on your email address for account identification, and your student preview user’s email is the same as your regular account.
