Re-Upload Kaltura Capture Video

Students, faculty, and staff can re-upload a Kaltura Capture video for Mac OS and Windows OS.

Windows OS or Mac OS

You can use Kaltura Capture to re-upload the video following the instructions below. If this does not work, you can follow one of the scenarios below based on the operating system of your computer.

  1. Open Kaltura Capture.

  2. Click Manage.

  3. You should see the Library of the videos you have recorded on the computer.

  4. Click Re-Upload to the right of the video.

If the recording does not appear in the application window as shown above:

Windows OS

Recording Scenario 1: Webcam or Screen Only

If you recorded either your webcam or your screen, but not both, you should:

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run window.

  2. Enter %localappdata% into the Open: field, as shown in the image below.

  3. Click on Kaltura → Capture

  4. Locate the .mp4 video that corresponds to your recording.
    The file names are not descriptive, so you need to rely on the date modified to determine which video you need to re-upload.

  5. Navigate to your My Media page.

  6. Log in with your NetID.

  7. Click Add New.

  8. Select Media Upload. 

  9. Drag the .mp4 file you located in Step 4 onto the browser window to begin uploading. You will be able to rename it as it is uploading. Once finished, you will see a green banner telling you the upload is complete. The video will now process and you can close the window.

Recording Scenario 2: Both Webcam and Screen

If you recorded both your webcam and your screen, you should:

  1. Quit the Kaltura Capture software. To do so,

    1. Right-click the tray icon.

    2. Select Quit.

  2. Press Win + R to open the run window.

  3. Enter %localappdata% into the Open: field, as shown in the image below.

  4. Click on Kaltura → Capture

  5. Locate the JSON file that corresponds to your video.

    The file names are not descriptive, so you need to rely on the date modified to determine which video you need to re-upload.

  6. Make a copy of the JSON file.

  7. Right-click on the file.

  8. Click Copy. 

  9. Paste the file into the folder.

  10. Open your computer's native text editor. For Windows computers, the native text editor is either Notepad or Notepad++.

  11. Delete all text below “uploadStatus” except for the last }, as shown below.

  12. Change the variable to manual, as shown below. 

  13. Save the file. 

  14. Launch Kaltura Capture. 

  15. Select Manage to get back to your video library in Kaltura Capture.

  16.  Click Upload to re-upload the video to Kaltura.

Mac OS

Recording Scenario 1: Screen or Camera Only

If you only recorded your screen or your camera (but not both), you should:

  1. Open Finder.

  2. Hold down the Option key on your keyboard.

  3. Click Go from the top bar.

  4. Select Library.

  5. From the Library folder, navigate to Preferences.

  6. Click on Kaltura.

  7. Click on Capture.

  8. Select Recordings. The file names are not descriptive, so you need to rely on the date modified to determine which video you need to re-upload.

  9. Locate the .mp4 video that corresponds to your recording.

  10. Navigate to your My Media page.

  11. Log in with your NetID.

  12. Click on Add New.

  13. Select Media Upload.

  14. Drag the .mp4 file you located in Step 9 onto the browser window to begin uploading.

  15. You can rename the file as it uploads. Once finished, you will see a green banner indicating that the upload is complete. The video will now process. Close the window.
