Kaltura Media Gallery Tool and Analytics

Faculty and staff can add the Media Gallery tool to their HuskyCT course and view the Kaltura Video analytics for their course.

The Media Gallery tool in Kaltura is a repository of the videos in your course that can be viewed by the students and instructor. Using the tool, the instructor will be able to see the analytics for all embedded videos in a course to assess engagement. Note: if a student has an adblocker on it is possible data will not be collected for that student. The benefit to students is they can quickly find a video in your course using the search feature in the Media Gallery. Also, they will have access to the transcript of any captioned videos.

By default, students have the ability to upload their own videos to the Media Gallery and leave comments on videos. Instructors can choose to enable moderation, which requires student-uploaded videos to be approved by an instructor before they are visible to the rest of the class. Additionally, the ability for students to comment on videos can be disabled.

    1. Enable comments in Media Gallery: If you do not want students to be able to make comments, turn this off.

    2. Keep comments private to Media Gallery: If students make comments, this will ensure the comments are only visible to this class even if you share the video in other courses.

  5. By default, the following settings are turned off:

    1. Moderate content: Instructors can choose to enable moderation, which requires student-uploaded videos to be approved by an instructor before they are visible to the rest of the class.

    2. Enable Newrow Live Room: We do not use this feature; leave it turned off.

    3. Display embedded media in this Media Gallery: It is highly recommended you turn this setting on so that anytime you embed a video in a content area in your course or in the discussion board, it will automatically appear in the Media Gallery. You can turn this on after you have embedded videos and those videos will still be added.
