Verify Academic Status

Prior to verifying your academic status, you can still use GitHub Codespaces but will be limited to 60 hours free per month. After the verification is complete, you will be upgraded to 90 hours per month.

  1. Go to https://education.github.com/discount_requests/application and click the option for Student

  2. Scroll down to the Application section, enter University of Connecticut for the name of your school (if not already filled in), and click Continue

  3. On the next page, you will be prompted to take a picture of your UConn student ID to verify your student status. Click on Take a picture, hold up your UConn student ID to your webcam, and click Take photo

  4. Once the photo has been taken, click Process my application

Please keep the window open until the progress bar reaches 100%

At this point, you have completed the Academic status verification application. GitHub will review your application and should approve your academic status within 1 week.

If you have not received confirmation from GitHub within 1 week that your academic status has been verified, please reach out to GitHub support by going to https://support.github.com/contact/education
