Setting up a Google Workspace Account for the First Time

This article covers how faculty, staff, and students can set up their UConn Google Workspace account for the first time. By setting up an account, you gain access to services such as Calendar, Classroom, Drive and Docs, Gmail, and Hangouts.

All new accounts are created in Outlook. This article is only relevant for current students and faculty who have not had their data migrated yet. Learn more: Microsoft Outlook

Students

You can find your email address on the UConn Phonebook. Log in with your NetID and password to view student information.

  1. Set up your password for the first time you can use the instructions located here https://kb.uconn.edu/space/IKB/10730799636

  2. Now you can access your University email account. Visit gmail.uconn.edu to test your account.

  3. If you have issues accessing your account, first verify your UConn email address in the UConn Phonebook.

Faculty and staff

The creation of new Google accounts for faculty and staff was retired in 2023. Staff accounts have had their data migrated and closed and faculty accounts will be transferred later in summer 2024.
