Adding a Printer (UConn School of Business)

School of Business employees may sometimes need access to a printer not initially set up for them on a given machine (in the case of a new printer being added to the department, for example). This guide details how to add a new School of Business printer to your machine.

Note that you should reach out to the School of Business IT Department to first request access to a new printer. Internally, we must add a user to the list of approved users to printer before they can add the printer to their laptop or workstation.

 Instructions

  1. Begin by searching for the “Add a printer or scanner” option in the Start menu.

  2. Click the “Add device” button in the window that appears.

  3. A list of printers will begin to appear – this will correspond to the list of printers you have been given the ability to see on our network. Once you see the name of your printer, select “Add device” next to its entry.

After a short delay (as your machine will install printer drivers in the background), you will be able to print to your selected printer.

All network printers are named after organisms in the Animal kingdom (i.e. ORYX, CROW, LEMUR, etc.), followed by either “-CL” or “-BW”.

CL = The printer is able to print in color.
BW = The printer can only print in black & white.
