Software Center (on a School of Business-imaged computer)

S.B. computers have the Software Center app where users can access software provided by us.

This can be used to quickly install common applications (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Adobe Reader) as part of a first-time setup.

There are two main requirements for the software library to work:  

  1. User is logged in to their business account, not a local computer account  

  2. Computer is connected to UCONN-SECURE, or the Cisco AnyConnect VPN

For a user to request software: 

  1. Open the software center app

  1. Locate desired app  

  2. User can request apps themselves. This will send a Jira issue to the inbox where we can approve or deny the user's request.  

    1. To approve this, the technician has to be connected to UCONN-SECURE or the VPN as well

  3. After the request is approved, the download will start automatically on the user's computer
