Adding Kaltura Videos to the Knowledge Base

Although our Knowledge Base allows you to upload videos directly to your pages, ITS recommends that upload your video content to http://kaltura.uconn.edu in order to have more control over your content.

  1. Upload the video to http://kaltura.uconn.edu. If you need a refresher, visit Uploading Video Files into Kaltura

  2. Once the video is uploaded to your account, a share link will be generated even though the video still needs to process before it can be viewed.

  3. Go to the video in your account. If you just uploaded it, click on Go to Media at the bottom of the upload page. If the video already exists in your account, click on your name in the top-right and choose My Media. Click on the video from the list.

  4. Click on Share and then Embed.

  5. From the text box that appears, click twice on the box to manually select the desired text.

  6. Highlight the link that sits between src=" and " width="400". Copy this link into your clipboard.

  7. Navigate to the Knowledge Base (KB) guide that is going to display this video. Click on the pencil icon to Edit.

  8. Type /iframe to create an iFrame element. Note: typing the “/” symbol opens the macro quick entry menu. Choose iFrame from the list to insert the macro.
If you need help arranging the iFrame macro within your guide, please read Converting DC Guides for the Cloud Editorarchived for tips.

  9. There is now a right-hand menu that holds the iFrame macro options. Paste the copied link into the URL field.

  10. For the Width and Height, enter 608 and 400 respectively.

  11. You will now see your Kaltura video embedded onto the KB page.
